Santorini: the adventures continue

Santorini: The adventures continue

Thursday
After a fairly restless sleep for all the travel buddies we greeted the day and settled in and got sorted at our apartments.
We met Nike the hostess and she talked us through the intricacies of staying at Aura Marina, including the decree of not putting any paper or anything else in the toilet! We are all committed to ensuring we do not destroy the fragile Santorini sewerage system.

Our SMALL  hire cars were delivered and we soon headed off to find somewhere for a late breakfast / brunch with Annie & Sandy at the wheels of our small cars. Sandy & Jenny had a very unusual pancake breakfast (more like potato scallops which Jenny had already added honey and chocolate to prior to realising). The other travel buddies all had omelettes.

We then went for a short drive around the end of the island and all gasped at the beauty of the scenery.
We then found our way to a local mini market to stock up on the basics.

Some of the travel buddies tried out our small dip pool while others relaxed around the apartments.

In the afternoon we set off again on a local reconnoiter........soon to lose each other in the traffic.

Sandy, Squizz & Trish made their way up to the top of the island and were amazed at the scenery, especially the habitation of the flat areas. We arrived on the outskirts of Oia and Eire soon stumped by a traffic jam and had to turn around and head back the at we made along the coast.

As they had still not heard from the other travel buddies they headed to Perissa where we had planned to head around 7pm for the fishing festival......no sign of the festival or the other travel buddies so we settled in at Delimar's at the left end of the beach to see if the festival or our friends would show up.

A gorgeous setting soon had us convincing our travel buddies to join us once we established contact. Thank goodness for modern technology, wi-fi and portable devices.......

While the service was unfortunately a tad lax with long delays in drinks service, lost meals and confused orders the setting was idylic as the sun set. As we left the area there was vital total black out and we managed to find our small car in the dark with the use of the flashlights in our mobile phones.

A steady trip home around the windy hills and narrow roads saw us back at our apartaments and settled in for a nightcap.
