Greece: Rhodes [Part 2]
After our first days new guests arrived...
Tina Sullivan and Jenny Carew.
Sandy first met Tina when she worked in the team of professional support officers who travelled to all the remote schools to support teachers with use of ICT. Lib and Tina were members of the team at the same time and in fact Lib was Tina's mentor when she first started with us down in Alice Springs.
Jenny was a teacher at Wallace Rockhole School when I first met her and now is a school leader supporting a number of the small remote schools out of Alice Springs.
After a slower start than usual, Trish, Annie and Squizz walked into town even though the temperature was 40 degrees with 70% humidity. The start was still too early as shops did not open til 10.30amish and so they found ourselves a little coffee shop that was most welcoming and had both coffee and bruschetta. They were pleasantly surprised to be joined for coffee by Eric and Libby who were passing by on their own walk and journey to the beach for a swim in the Mediterranean.
As good girls and shoppers they ventured through many air-conditioned doorways to check out the local wares and contributed to the local economy as all good shoppers do. In their ventures we discovered what the Greek Eye signified- a protection against bad luck- hence they all bought one.... and are now enjoying a much protected time from the evil eye!!!!!!
They all walked off in different directions and all three found themselves drawn to the azure blue water at Lee Beach. After a quick look they sought the shelter of the shade and settled in to the Lee Beach Restaurant for a refreshing drink and a salad lunch.
On their way home they picked up a few supplies and headed back to the cooler climate of our villa and pool.
Sandy, Tina & Jenny caught up in the morning around the pool then headed down the steep driveway to the local place Corralli's, looked after very capably by a young Albanian.
We all met back at our villa and enjoyed quite a relaxing time in the pool with beverages and then while some travel buddies had an afternoon siesta others caught up on their blogs and reading!
Later that night we all freshened up and ventured down the long steep driveway to Corralli's (the same restaurant 3 of us had gone to for lunch) for dinner.
Huge, tasty meals once again ranging from Squizz having rabbit, Annie & Trish having goat, Lib & Jenny having lamb, Tina beef and Sandy pork.
Eric is now thinking he does need to don the chefs hat and cook again as we just need to come back to this local establishment each day!
We staggered back up our driveway....(although Sandy did try and convince Dimitri our waiter to take us back up in the local landrover).
Tina & Jenny had done well and made their way through their jet lag and stayed awake all day - soon crashed along with Lib & Trish.
Squizz let the team down and retired as well leaving Eric & Sandy to solve all the world problems over a nightcap!
