Saturday morning our plan to visit the Green Grotto was thwarted by a high tide, so after a seaside breakfast we walked the shoreline area before Annie headed off for another punishing walk while Sandy, Trish and Squizz boarded the ferry for a seafaring adventure up the Amalfi Coast to the Isle of Capri. We revisited Positano this time from the sea and with " experienced" advice wished those passengers that left us there, good luck!
Arriving in Capri we immediately boarded another boat, a wee one, this time to tour around the famous Isle's coastal areas. With sun glistening on the water, we enjoyed the sights of grottos, coral, historical markers, Roman ruins and resort style shipping of every colour, size and value on the beautiful azure coloured sea. We made many new friends this day including boat captains and waiters.
After the taste of salt in our mouths and on our skin from the spray, we hoed in to a yummy Italian lunch in one of the many resort style Cafes at the waterfront.
Sandy found her perfect vehicle.....wonder if we could send it back to Darwin?
Our return journey was all the more enjoyable with a couple of fizzy drinks to celebrate our wonderful day.
Annie headed off and first visited the old paper museum then walked the Valle Delle Ferriere. Numerous steps, vistas of Amalfi and a valley of lemon groves before coming across an oasis - small organic farm restaurant. A refreshing lemon slushy then onward and upward following the water course past the iron works and cascades. A local Italian man assisted with some map reading to help Annie find her way back. A lunch of home made pasta and beer, a quick refresh back home then met the others on their return from Capri.
We caught up with Annie and shared our stories over an enjoyable last meal in Italy. Ciao Italy and the Amalfi Coast!!
